6 Organisation internationale de la Francophonie
( OIF)L’Organisation internationale de la Francophonie (OIF) est "une institution fondée sur le partage d’une langue et de valeurs communes". En 2006, elle compte 55 Etats et gouvernements membres et 13 Etats observateurs ayant le français en partage, avec 175 millions de Francophones répartis sur les cinq continents. La Charte de la Francophonie est adoptée en novembre 2005. L’OIF conduit des actions de politique internationale et de coopération multilatérale. Elle s’appuie sur quatre opérateurs directs et une assemblée consultative. Les quatre opérateurs directs sont l’Agence universitaire de la Francophonie (AUF), TV5, l’Université Senghor d’Alexandrie et l’Association internationale des maires francophones (AIMF). Le terme " Francophonie" est inventé en 1880 par le géographe français Onésime Reclus (1837-1916) pour définir l’ensemble des personnes et des pays utilisant le français à des titres divers. Sur cette base d’une langue partagée, le mouvement francophone donne naissance à l’Organisation internationale de la Francophonie (OIF), qui compte 55 Etats et gouvernements membres et 13 observateurs en 2006. Le français est la langue officielle de 29 Etats membres.
